NEW YORK CITY: The Vineyard Theatre announced on Oct. 22 that Ryan J. Haddad will receive the 2021-22 Paula Vogel Playwriting Award. Haddad is the 14th recipient of the residency-based award, which is given annually to an emerging writer of exceptional promise and comes with a cash prize and artistic development support.
Haddad will be presented with the award on Nov. 12 at the Vineyard’s virtual Emerging Artists Celebration hosted by Is This a Room’s Tina Satter and Emily Davis. He will join in a Q&A with John Caswell Jr., the 2020-21 recipient of the award, after the presentation. Haddad is an actor, playwright, and autobiographical performer based in New York. His acclaimed solo play Hi, Are You Single? was presented in the Public Theater’s Under the Radar Festival and subsequently produced at Woolly Mammoth Theatre Company in association with IAMA.
