Offscript: Benjamin Benne’s Questions of Faith

This week we talk to the playwright of ‘Alma’ and ‘In His Hands’ about intimacy, religion, poetic realism, and Mario Kart.

Offscript, American Theatre’s flagship podcast for a number of years, is back as a Facebook Live chat with the magazine’s editors and special guests as well as an audio podcast.

This week our guest is playwright Benjamin Benne, whose play Alma ran at CTG’s Kirk Douglas Theatre in March and whose new play, In His Hands, begins performances at D.C.’s Mosaic Theatre Company June 22. We talk about his path to theatre and playwriting; his journey away from, then back toward religion and/or spirituality, which informs In His Hands; and his ambitions for a career focused on the immediacy of the stage.

You can download the episode here and watch the original Facebook chat here. If you have any feedback or suggestions for Offscript, please reach out to at@tcg.org.
