The winning plays by grade school and high school students will be performed as part of the Marilyn Bianchi Festival this summer.
The service organization recognizes theatre artists and companies working in the TYA field.
The application deadline is May 4 for theatre leaders (including a journalist) based in New York City or St. Louis.
Branden Jacobs-Jenkins’s ‘Everybody’ and Tracy Letts’s ‘The Minutes’ were this year’s finalists.
This year’s grants go to a range of performing arts service organizations, including TCG.
The playwright will be celebrated at a ceremony later this month.
The prize recognizes her play ‘Book of Will’ and comes with $25,000.
Andrewartha is the inaugural recipient of the award for her play ‘Choices People Make.’
Audrey Webb will receive the annual award for a play inspired by Lorraine Hansberry’s ‘A Raisin in the Sun.’
This year the academy recognizes the musicals ‘Gun & Powder’ and ‘KPOP.’
