Her 2022 play took home the $25,000 prize, while Madison Fiedler won the Osborn Prize and Suzan-Lori Parks and Rebecca Gilman received citations for their work.
Both playwrights will receive $100,000, an increased prize amount reflecting the Steinberg Trust’s acknowledgement of tough times facing writers.
10 outstanding early-to-mid-career playwrights will be celebrated with 2021 Steinberg Playwright Awards in the amount of $10,000 each.
Also cited were Noah Haidle’s ‘Birthday Candles’ and Jen Silverman’s ‘Witch,’ with the Osborn Award going to Spenser Davis’s ‘Plainclothes.’
The playwright’s body of work will be celebrated at a ceremony next week.
