Ars Nova Sets 2016 Season

The Off-Broadway space will host the world premiere of Sky-Pony’s new musical, plus a new play from Jennifer Kidwell and Scott Sheppard.

NEW YORK CITY: Off-Broadway company Ars Nova has announced the line-up for its 2016 season, which will include a world premiere musical from the band Sky-Pony, and a new play by Jennifer Kidwell and Scott Sheppard.

The season will begin with The Wildness, from the band Sky-Pony, directed by Sam Buntrock (Feb. 16–May 19, 2016). The musical—an exploration of faith and doubt—will be presented in collaboration with the Play Company.

Then in April, the company will present Showgasm XXL, a one-night-only variety-show-meets-party. The event will be hosted by John Early. The exact date and venue are to be announced.

In June, Ars Nova will present its annual ANT Fest, showcasing emerging New York artists (June 6–30, 2016).

Fall 2016 will see the New York premiere of Underground Railroad Game, created and performed by Jennifer Kidwell and Scott Sheppard with Lightning Rod Special, a physical theatre company based in Philadelphia. The play will explore race in America.
