“This is an opportunity for enterprising young theatre directors to travel beyond our borders and expand their creative horizons to include styles and techniques, best experienced in direct dialogue and work with creative artists,” reads a statement on the website. “It is our hope that through independent travel to and dialogue with world theatre artists, fellowship recipients will increase their creative capacity and return to enliven the American theatre with new productions fueled by their expanded perspective of world theatre.”

Selection will be based on the applicant’s artistic excellence and resourcefulness, as well as their ability to explain how the fellowship will foster their artistic growth. Taymor encourages professionals from a number of artistic disciplines and educational institutions to recommend promising graduates and recent alumni. Send recommendations to admin@tjtwtf.com and let the recommended individual know to apply on the fellowship’s website. Round One of applications are due on March 18.
