Julie Taymor Will Receive 2018 ‘Mr. Abbott’ Award

The SDC Foundation will present the ‘Lion King’ director with this award at a gala event on April 2, 2018.

The awards, which honor women in theatre, will be presented at a ceremony on May 22.

Winners will each receive $30,000 to travel in Central/South America, Africa, Asia, or the Middle East for one year.

Four young artists will receive travel stipends and the opportunity to pursue projects around the globe.

Roger Rees, Tony Kushner, and Julie Taymor are among those honored for their achievements.
