New York Stage and Film Announces Fall Programming

The season will feature readings of works by Majkin Holmquist, Jessica Huang, and Keelay Gipson.

NEW YORK CITY: New York Stage and Film (NYSAF) has announced their fall 2019 programming, featuring a reading series and panel discussion.

The reading series will begin with Tent Revival by Majkin Holmquist (Oct. 28). The play follows a young woman preaching with her parents across Kansas during the height of healing revivalism. Teddy Bergman will direct.

Next will be Mother of Exiles (Nov. 4) by Jessica Huang, an exploration of one family’s journeys of immigration in 1898, 1998, and 2098. Tyne Rafaeli will direct.

Following will be The Lost Or, How To Just B (Nov. 18) by Keelay Gipson. The story of a Black boy trying to find his wings, Gipson’s piece incorporates hip hop and spoken word. Rad Pereira will direct.

In addition, NYSAF will  host a panel discussion on portrayals of religion in modern theatre on November 22. The panel will be co-presented with New York Theater Salon.
