The 35th summer season at Vassar & New York Stage and Film’s Powerhouse Theater marked the end of an era and the beginning of a new one.
On the slate are new works from Harrison David Rivers and Beth Henley.
Currently the head of new-works incubator New York Stage and Film, Pfaelzer will succeed longtime a.d. Tony Taccone.
New musicals slated for the summer season include one by Jason Robert Brown and Jonathan Marc Sherman, and one by Duncan Sheik, Steven Sater, and Jessie Nelson.
This summer in Poughkeepsie, Lynn Nottage and Duncan Sheik will develop a new musical together, and Josh Radnor will present a new play.
At Vassar’s theatrical incubator, you can see everything from open rehearsals to readings to full productions. Just no reviews, please.
The new works incubator will present readings, workshops, and fully staged productions of new plays and musicals.
Just far enough from New York to get away and stretch with new work, but close enough for a day trip, Vassar’s Powerhouse has been a theatre development hub for 3 decades.
