Actor’s Express Announces Virtual Threshold Festival

The new play festival will feature 5 plays and span 3 upcoming Sundays.

ATLANTA: Actor’s Express has announced the lineup for its 2021 Threshold New Play Festival, featuring virtual readings on May 16, May 23, and June 13. These Zoom events are free, though registration is required.

May 16’s programming will feature three readings. First will be Kayla Parker’s Either You Got It or You Don’t, about what happens to six strangers who have to share a holding cell. Next will be Anja Lee’s Mixed Up, an autobiographical multimedia play examining what it means to be between Black and white. The night will conclude with Hank Kimmel’s Post-Apocalyptic Beer Fest, a Jewish parable about saving the environment for the next generation.

Sunday, May 23, will feature Sofia Palmero’s walls, which follows Lola, who moves into an apartment with her boyfriend and finds herself in an intense and complicated bond with her new neighbor, Mya.

The festival will conclude on June 13 with Momma, by Quinn Xavier Hernandez. The play follows Karen, who has always wanted to be a mother, and Evelyn, for whom motherhood is the furthest thing from her mind, as an unexpected pregnancy places the two women on a collision course with each other.

Tickets and more information on the festival are available on the Actor’s Express website.
