Offscript: What We Talk About When We Talk About Abortion

This week the editors discuss theatre’s role in dispelling the fears and misconceptions surrounding abortion with Alison Leiby and Justice Hehir.

Offscript, American Theatre’s flagship podcast for a number of years, is back as a Facebook Live chat with the magazine’s editors and special guests as well as an audio podcast.

On this episode, we speak to Alison Leiby, writer-performer of Oh God, A Show About Abortion (currently playing at the Cherry Lane Theatre), and Justice Hehir, co-playwright of the wish: a manual for a last-ditch effort to save abortion in the united states through theater (available for download via New Georges). We discuss abortion rights, legislative bans, medical misconceptions, and theatre’s role in continuing necessary conversations.

You can download the episode here and watch the original Facebook chat here. If you have any feedback or suggestions for Offscript, please reach out to at@tcg.org.
