With spring dates canceled due to COVID-19, ‘Sweat’ and ‘Sweeney Todd’ will open the 2020-21 season.
The four artists will begin their residencies immediately, creating three new theatrical works.
The lineup, the first under new artistic director Courtney Sale, will include two world premiere plays.
The lineup includes four works all about marriage.
A portion of the fund will be designated for New York City-based members.
Celebrated playwrights and a legendary dramaturg make up this year’s class of theatre fellows.
The season will feature productions of a Mary Zimmerman play and a Shakespearean classic, sharing a pool onstage.
Episodes will feature work from Heather Christian, Robert O’Hara, Jordan Harrison, Qui Nguyen, and more.
The program aims to support alumni in urgent need of funds due to the COVID-19 crisis.
