She will receive $35,000 and a residency to develop a multidisciplinary piece called ‘Lighthouse of the Singing Birds.’
The award comes with a $35,000 cash prize to support an original work, along with a residency at the Hermitage and a developmental workshop of the play in a major arts capital in the fall of 2023.
Ali is the second annual recipient of one of the nation’s largest nonprofit theatre commissions, which includes a cash prize of $35,000, a residency at the Hermitage, and a developmental workshop in a major arts capital.
Finalists for the $35,000 prize and six-week residency include Luis Alfaro, Eisa Davis, and Madeleine George.
