Thank you for the articulation and emphasis on the importance of theater no matter how small or big of it’s venue. I have always been involved in theater in one form or another via onstage and off, and loved it because of the idea of entertainment and Catharsis. But this article in particular solidified that it’s mainly done to acknowledge who we are within time. It stops time for both audience and artist and yet starts it. As the progression of technology and life conveniences furthers, our senses are placed on the back burner, the arts…..theater in particular turns that knob on the stove and sets them ablaze. Theater must be maintained, and supported as our world progresses, good or bad. Tim Blake Nelson is a clear example, because of his profession and experiences, that desensitization can be saved and reversed by just a moment in the theater.
