NEW YORK CITY: Lincoln Center Theater has announced dates for the inaugural lineup of a new program called the Composer Series. In this new offering, influential musical theatre songwriters will take the stage to champion the next generation of artists in the same form. In three one-night-only events at the Vivian Beaumont Theater, Benj Pasek and Justin Paul, Lin-Manuel Miranda, and Sara Bareilles will join forces with emerging composers to share songs and stories, and to talk about the creative spark that connects the work of generations.
Each evening will feature performances of works by celebrated artists alongside new music from rising voices in the field, creating a rare opportunity to experience established and emerging talent in conversation. Through performance and discussion, audiences will gain an intimate glimpse into the craft of songwriting, the mentorship and generosity that sustain the art form, and the future of American musical theatre. The emerging composers were selected and curated by each headlining composer.
Pasek and Paul’s evening will be on Nov. 30 at 8 p.m. Tickets will be available to members beginning Nov. 2 at 10 a.m., and on sale to the general public beginning Tuesday, Nov. 3 at 10 a.m. They will be joined by composers Barlow and Bear (the Bridgerton musical, Disney’s Moana 2), singer-songwriter Marie Dresselhuis (who has performed with Jacob Collier, Tiny Habits, Leith Ross, and Jensen McRae), musical theatre composer Joriah Kwamé (Little Miss Perfect, Polly: The Musical, Trolls JR.), singer-songwriter and actor Oliver Richman (known for his one-song-a-day challenge at @olivesongs11), and songwriter Jaheem King Toombs (Oakwood, High School Musical: The Musical: The Series, 100 Things to Do Before High School).
The evening with Lin-Manuel Miranda will be on Dec. 14 at 8 p.m., and the evening with Sara Bareilles will be on June 21, 2027 at 8 p.m., with tickets sales and additional information, including guest performers, vocalists, and emerging composers for their evenings to be announced at a later date.
