5 early-career musical theatre creators or teams will receive $10,000 unrestricted grants, along with residencies, concerts, and recording opportunities.
The database will provide industry-wide statistics on race, gender, and disability in the American theatre.
The nominations cover eligible productions that opened between April 26, 2019 and Feb. 19, 2020, weeks before Broadway’s COVID-19 shutdown.
The 2020 recipients include 12 high school student composers from across the U.S.
The celebration will include performances from the original Broadway and Off-Broadway revival casts of ‘Merrily We Roll Along.’
The Obie Awards will move online and the American Theatre Wing will move forward with plans to give money directly to artists.
This year’s recipients include Julia Gytri and Avi Amon, Emily Gardner Xu Hall, Andy Roninson, and Ben Wexler.
More than $500,000 has been awarded in scholarships and grants to 30 student artists and 13 school communities.
Ten theatres will receive $10,000 grants to support general operating costs.
